Pass The Popcorn: Flicka and Despicable Me

For my first Pass The Popcorn, this time, I picked a movie called "Flicka" based on the novel "My Friend Flicka" by Mary O'Hara. This is a movie about a young girl named Katy McLaughlin, who finds a beautiful mustang mare (Flicka). Her stern rancher father tells her that she can't have the mustang, due to the fact that Katy failed to write an essay for her final grade in school. Katy ends up going against the orders of her father, and works to tame Flicka. This is a good movie, and actually very clean. CommonSense Media recommends it for ages 8 and up. You can read the review by clicking on the link. I love this movie, and anyone who likes western films just might like it, also.

For my next Pass The Popcorn, I chose a movie for the even younger category for kids. This is an excellent movie for babysitters to bring along for young children. "Despicable Me" is a wonderful cute movie for kids. The main character, ahem, villain, Gru, is a super villain. Or so he was. But now he's older, and is not making so many villainous crimes nowadays. But now, he has a new plan. Bigger and greater than all of his other evil schemes combined; His new plan is to steal (cue Gru's voice and accent) THE MOON!!!!!! But when a newcomer villain named Vector, jeopardizes Gru's plan, he becomes desperate. But just by chance, he see's a way to get into Vector's lair and get the Shrink Ray he needs to complete part of his plan. All he needs is three girls. Three little orphans named Margo, Edith and Agnes, who commonly are known by going around the neighborhood selling cookies for "a better future". But when Gru adopts them, he has no intentions of having any kinds of strings attached to them. But that soon changes, as he realizes how much he loves them. CommonSense Media recommends this movie for ages six and up. I love this movie. It's sweet, adorable and little Agnes just makes your heart melt!!!
